Tom is a thoughtful and ambitious practitioner. The work he has been part of at Parabolic is remarkable, tackling the complexities of making participatory simulation performance exciting as well as rigorous and challenging. When he visited Central to speak to my students the depth of thinking and the layers of investigation underpinning this work were made clear in a way that inspired the group, and Tom’s enthusiasm and articulacy made for a great session.

Tom is excellent at articulating the finer points of interactive narrative design, and his work with Parabolic has given him a deep understanding of what is practically possible and how to go about achieving it.

Chronic Insanity
Tom delivered a commission for Chronic Insanity as part of Puncture the Screen festival 2022. His masterclass on audience interactivity in digital theatre was interesting, clear and concise. He gave practical advice to those who might be looking to create their own interactive or game-based digital theatre and shared tools and software that he uses in creating his work. The masterclass was a great guide for those who were new to this area of theatre making but would also benefit those with more experience.
I love exploring the creation and development of interactive immersive work with those who want to learn more about it. I’ve delivered workshops, lectures and masterclasses for Central School of Speech and Drama, Imitating the Dog, Chronic Insanity, Parabolic Theatre, and COLAB Theatre, among others.
In 2021, I taught a course as a visiting artist at Arts University Bournemouth, helping final year acting students create an online interactive piece of theatre across five weeks.
